  2. hi there

i have windows 98 second edition which i recommend and i can use the canopus advc100 analog \ digital converter.

first have ya got a 1394 firewire card for digital video\audio if, not get one

then use the firewire link from the
advc converter to your computer. then plug in the rc plugs from vcr or what ever source you have into the converter.

i have one and it is excellent quality very sharp in dvd format and even vcd format.

more or less you have to re-record your footage of video/audio onto your computer i hope you have a big harddrive cause one hr of uncompressed digital video\audio is
    about 13 gb.

But of course you have to convert that to mpeg 2 or mpeg 1 compression so it can be played back on a standalone dvd player.

but you have to have a capturing software which does came with the fireware card or there are other software for recording like powervcr II and the software i use Sonic Foundry Vegas Video 3.0c which ya can get demo at www.SonicFoundry.com

and that about sums it up to use the device.

any questions just email me or write a reply and i might be able to help you even more.
