  1. Was hoping someone could assist me in figuring out what is th best way to convert an SVCD to VCD. Basically what's happened is I have a very high quality copy of a movie, which comes as 3 800+ MB files. I recieved them as cue/bin combinations. Problem is, they are SVCD and my DVD player won't handle that format. I can watch them on the PC, but I'd prefer the TV. The main problem I'm running into with some of the methods I've found is that the files will fit on a SVCD, but are too big to be used for VCD. I've joined/cut files before, but I first have to get them to an MPEG format I can use (I want to join the 3 files, cut them into 4, then feed it into Easy VCD Imager). I want to lose as little quality as possible, because the movie is a near perfect DVD rip) Can someone give me a step by step as to what I should be doing? I don't need instructions for the programs, as I can figure most of those out (and have used quite a few). I just need to know what the best way of doing the conversion is. Any replies either to the forum or by email are appreciated. Thanks.

You could use this following SVCD-To-VCD Header trick:

    Hope That Helps!!! :P

  3. well the above link is one way....but I think i might be able to help you alil more specific....check this out...

First, open vcdgear and load up the first cd (bin/cue) and extract it to MPEG file, once you have that, do the same for the rest, unless you want to see how it turns out then do the first cd only and do these steps, if it goes well then continue doing the same for the rest of the cds..ok..

now once you got your high to nearly perfect mpeg, it all depends what u wanna do.... you can either 1) convert the mpeg-2 file to VCD(mpeg-1) and yes quality will be lost but since your mpeg is near to perfect dvd quiality, the quality loss will still look amazing since your going to be watching it on your dvd player... you can choose to do that or you may want to also convert it to VCD but convert it small enough to fit all 3 cds onto 1 CD.... the chances of that is not bad, I mean its your choice if you want quality or you want storage, but either one I will show you how to convert to VCD but yet again it will also be 3 cds... well anyways back to my turotial, you load up TMPGenc and you open your video mpeg file and your audio mpeg file, then you goto "load" tab at the bottom and you choose VCD-NTSC-Film, then u just press encode and once you got your video file encoded you can see that your mpeg will be much lower capacity of space but its a valid mpeg, then burn it with vcdeasy or use vcdimager to conver the mpeg to bin/cue and burn it with your cdrwin or fireburner, load it up in your dvd and boom u got it..... do same for cd2 and 3 if you like.....if you dun like.... check out the guides in the site, they might be more specific on how to do it..... later

    and reply!
