  1. Ok, first off I will say I am totally new to all this and have read around the whole site. I have read various posts and guides on here and everything seems extremely complicated. I have read that conversions can take over 6 hours and people are losing sound when splitting their movies etc etc.

Anyway, I have downloaded a perfect DivX film with perfect sound and picture quality. It is all one .AVI file and I want to burn it to two discs as a VCD. I have downloaded most the programs I think I will need for this process and I have Nero to burn it, all I require is a REALLY simple step-by-step for me to follow

    Thankyou in advance

  3. If you use TMPGE to encode to VCD ,just follow the wizard.
    You realy can't go wrong.
I would also use TMPGE and follw this easy guide on how to extract the Audio from the DIVX and use the WAV file as the audio source in TMPGE.

  4. Right, I've started encoding the first disc with the full audio extraction. This may be a dumb question, but how would I just get the audio extraction for the second half of the film? Or would I just use the full one again?

I think I may be doing it wrong using the full extraction for just one half of the disc... Could someone please give me some info as to how the audio extraction is used..

    Thankyou again

  5. If you still have the original AVI full movie:
    Using this:http://www.vcdhelp.com/virtualdubaudio.htm

Then open TMPGE,(by-pass wizard or disable it)
Click on Video Source,Browse > Movie.avi > Audio Source,Browse > Recently extracted full WAV audio file > Load > Open Template of your choice...
ie:Video-CD-NTSC (if original AVI is 29.97fps)......
Video-Cd PAL (if original AVI is 25fps)...
    Video-CD-NTSC-Film (if original AVI is 23.97fps) >
Output File Name (and location to go to) >
Setting > Advanced > Source Range > Check Box and Double click on it > Slide slider all the way to the end > Note Movie length at top of window > Divide that amount by 2 > Slide slide rback as close as you can to halway point > Click on "Set End Frame" > OK > OK > In The output File Name box ,add -1 to end of movie name (before .mpg) > File > Save Project > Save.
Back to Output File Name and change -1 to -2 (or part 2) > Settings > Advanced > Double Click on Source range > the number that is in the End Frame box, type into the Start Frame box > Slide slider to end of movie > Click on Set end frame > Ok > Ok > File > Save Project > Save.

So,now the last part is > File > Batch Encode > Add > Browse and click on > Movie-1.tpr and Movie-2.tpr > Run

I know the explanation was a bit long winded ,but I wanted to give you as much detail as I couls because you had'nt done it before.
The end result is,that you have encoded and split the file at the same time.
