Chances are whoever your sending it to, could play the disc without issue anyway. Many on this board have said the newer hardware in Europe plays NTSC content without an issue.

If you want to convert it anyway, there are free tools to do the job, rather than paying far too much to get it done.

AVISynth will do it, as will TMPGenc, although I'm not sure what kind of results either will get you. I've never messed with converting to PAL, only FROM it. Before buying, wait for this thread to fill out. You may hear from our Euro compadres that NTSC is not a problem at all.

I have been down this road.
I used TPMG to convert DV .mov files to PAL MPEG2
Iw worked well and there were no problems with sound sunc.
It was however very slow- It took me 5 days to make a 40 minute DVD in Best quality! (I did it in sections)
The quality was OK but not as good as with the product above.
Quasi -NTSC playback was certainly available when I was last in the UK on some products esp panasonic but there was definate colour loss and it certainly was not as good as a converted product.
I agree $98 is a lot, I wish he would halve the price. I am yet to register myself but will probably have to soon (reluctantly).

AVISynth would be the preferred method, coupled with CCE. Search the forum for AVISynth and Convert and PAL. You should find a few scripts already written for you.

Done properly, you should not see color loss. The conversion process removes frames, but shouldn't affect your color, unless the encode was done improperly. A common mistake with conversion to/from PC to TV causes the chroma scale to be compressed, lossing bright and dark colors with a squashing affect.

Again, all of this may be mute, as the intended audience may be able to play the disc back without issue...

You should put in a short version, sans all the comments. That thing would scare a veteran, let alone a newb. It's hard to plugin your variables.

Maybe, variables up top, so you don't have to scan through the code, or maybe, put all of the code up top, and the comments below for reference.

    Just a suggestion...

  8. The only problem is, if I remove the comments, how would a newbee know what is needed to run the scrip and how to fill in the variables? I could separate out the instructions, but then they could easily be separated. There are shorter versions on the plugin web page without comments, but then you have to know what you are doing to choose the right one (and to fix the bug in the last two scripts ). It's all give and take, but the conversion generally looks excellent and it's FREE.
