I am not nesicarily new to VCDs, I am fluent with TMPGEnc, Vurtual Dub, and VCD Gear to convert avi...
I recently purchased a series of VCD, and to enjoy them i need to be able to read the subtitles, but they are off my TV screen.
When i play the VCD on my computer I see the Subtitles at the bottom of the picture.
I did a little research and found that the files are encoded too large for my TV so when i play it i only see the top half of each letter in the subtitle.
The only way i have figured out how to fix this (other than watch it on my computer) is to rip the file with VCD gear from the CD then rencode it to a proper size with TMPG - but this is taking forever... I have a 9 CD series...
Any advise?
again my subtitles are cut off at the bottom of my screen, they do exist - i have changed the settings on my DVD player too... please help

I'm newer to Encoding so this is what I did. My TV (Apex) did the same thing - so what I did was go into virtual dub, resize -and clicked on that and checdk expand frame to letterbox image....
Then i slowly decreased the size of the first till i got everything onscreen and there were no black bars on the top and bottom
however that did take me 6 hours to find out, but now its fine.
Oh yeah, I hae the APEX 13inch TV from Circuit City and if that is your model stick the frame at 421=width 422=heigth (assuming your letterbox is SVCD standard of 480*480)
And since I tried to help answer, could you possibly help me answer my question since you are the veteran
