  1. I was trying to backup one of my dvds to a dvdr play on my ps2.
I only got as far as making the dvdr to work perfectly on my dvd player and my computer. The PS2 rejects the disk in this case.

I had other cases where i messed up copying the movie and it would work but the picture and sound was scrambled up. These actually booted and worked on the ps2, but they were not good copys and were basically garbage. I know it is possible to boot a dvdr on a ps2 without a modchip, but I can't get a good copy to read on the ps2.

    any help anyone?

  2. The Mod chip has absolutely nothing to do with dvd playback. The mod chip only stops the ps2 from checking for files on game dvd that can not be copied from the pressed games. It sounds like you have a media problem. You might wanna try a different brand of disk. Most console's are really picky about media. For cheap DVD-R try Ritek works for me.

  3. My problem is definately not the media I am using.

I can get the backups to work on the PS2 if the original is smaller than 4.7Gigs. No problem at all. I use DVD Decrypter and read an iso off of the disk and then write it to the blank DVDR with the same program. It works great. I am using maxell DVD-R 4.7GB

My problem is when I have an original DVD that is bigger than 4.7 Gigs. I am kind of new at DVD stuff. I found out how to split it up into 2 disks, but gettin them to work on the PS2 isn't happening to well for me. They work great on the PC and my DVD Player connected to my TV. I just want them to work on the PS2 so I don't have to move around my DVD player. Any help anybody.

  4. The key is DVDXCOPY v1.2 this program is idiot proof for backing up DVDs to DVD-R.

  5. Well I don't know about Dvdxcopy. I really don't like spliting dvd's. I tried do so with Ifoedit when I first started copying dvd's. It seemed as tough some dvd players didn't like dvd's that were split. I found the most compatable method would be to rip out the movie (rencode if ness.) and author with dvdmaestro.

If you do have a modchip (magic2/magic3) there are troubles with playing back DVD r movies. Mine wont play unless i add a capacitor on the chip. I use verbatim media for backing up PS2 games and movies.

  7. What program are you using to burn the DVD-R? PS2 and XBOX WILL NOT READ DVD's AUTHORED BY NERO! I have found that RecordNow Max using a DATA DISC and creating your own AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders works the best universally.

  8. my stuff...

    ps2 with magic 2 modchip
    ritek blank dvd-r
    pioneer 104
    nero express (came with burner)

dvd's will not play correctly in ps2 (who cares) but fine in pioneer dv-343 and others
back-up'd games booot flawlessly!!!!! doing an EASY disc copy with nero, nothing else needed to do...simple as all hell!!!!!!!

screw reencoding movies all night...just split and burn, no muss, no fuss, and not nearly as time consuming

  9. Eldup- I have ta say that i think ur media is the prob! Modchip has nothin got to do with it.

I use Datasafe media, pioneer 104, dvdxcopy 1.3 and every single movie plays perfect on my un modded (not for long- waitin on a magic 3 delivery) ps2.

Discs burned with nero do play in ps2 and x-box. Just get ur iso's correct.
(Iso level 1 and iso 9660- nothing else)

Rubberman - u 100% certain about Magic 3's not playin dvdrs without a cap? Never heard that before. If so where d'you put da cap

  10. rubberman is correct...the sellers sites talk about it....you MAY need a cap in the S wire i think....

dude get the magic 3.5 only 7-9 wires depending on ps2 model

  11. This is the ticket right here. Nothing is wrong with my media the solution was to use dvdxcopy1.2 for dvds larger than 4.7GB.
This program is idiot prooof and it works great. Just click next type deal. I avoids any type of editing or splitting software it does everything for you and gives you a fully working DVD that will work in any player that will read DVD-R. You suppose to pay for this program, but i do know there a downloadable copies floating around online.

No mod chip is needed at all. I don't know what media will work, but i know maxell DVD-r 4.7GB work everytime using that program. I will assume that all DVD-R media will work in theory. I am also using a Cendyne DVD-R/RW 4X writer.

to use dvdxcopy1.2 you must install the drivers that come with it and I recomend haveing an up to date nero becasue it uses its burning engine for writing to disks.

the earlier versions of dvdxcopy seem to just not work.
