  1. this may sound dumb....but is it possible to have a few SVCD and a few VCD movies and burn them onto the SAME CD and watch them on a DVD player?...

or do they have to all be the same format? either SVCD or VCD

Hmm, never tried, however if not, you could just re-mux the VCDs as SVCDs

which ever template you burn the disk as, the other type wont play.

Ie-Burn as VCD, the SVCD's wont' play.

  4. You can try it (e.g., with VCDImager / VCDEasy). But it will be non-compliant and it may not work as intended on your player (and many players in fact).

I did it about a year ago (accidentally) , my dvd player then wouldn`t play it (only played the files upto the point they changed then it just crashed my dvd player) - that dvd player went to dvd player heaven and I bought a new one (Mico Celo80) and it played it , it contained xvcds , vcd and svcd NTSC and PAL and it played the lot . These were music videos I had and it was a one-off thing which I made in Nero (I think) . But as a general rule , I convert them all to the same standard .(I didn`t mess about with the headers either in this case)

  6. If your DVD player supports the "header trick" then you should be able to have both mpeg files on the vcd disk. I actually tried it and it worked.
