  1. I have been capturing with Pinnacle V. 7.15. When I render with pinnacle, I am actually satisfied with the output. The problem is that it has a compatibility problem with moviefactory (1&2). When I add chapters, the navigation bar sticks and then jumps about 10 minutes making it impossible to find an exact scene for a chapter.(this only happens with MPEG2 created in Pinnacle).

I then rendered my edited video to AVI in Pinnacle and opened it Ulead Video Studio 6.2. I rendered it again and then it works fine with moviefactory.

I then tried rendering the AVI from Pinnacle with Tmpgenc, and it also worked fine with moviefactory. (I used the default DVD template with no adjustments).

    My questions are:
    1) Is it ok to take an AVI (edited in Pinnacle) and open it in another program such as Ulead Video Studio or Vegas Video and then render it in those programs?
    2) The Tmpgenc mpeg was 3.8 gig, while the pinnacle mpeg and the ulead were each 2.8 (all from the same AVI.). Why is the Tmpgenc so much larger.

  2. 1) It's fine - do whatever works best for you - you might compare quality of render.
    2) It may be because of the bitrate used - use a media identification program like GSpot of MovieID to check the specs of each type to help guide you on the specs that you want to choose.

Where can you get GSpot or MovieID programs. What information do they provide of DVD Movies?
