  1. Hi

I had an ATI TV Wonder VE, and even though i was disappointed with it, I always was able to get audio and video.

I got the AverMedia TV Studio card for christmas, and even though the picture is great, I am unable to get any sound from the card. I know that the sound on my computer works, and the cable going from the capture card to the line in on the sound card is fine. I don't understand why its not working because all i did was change capture cards.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

  2. I have the studio, and all I have to say is have patience. It can be hairy setting up. First off, check to make sure all the devices are installed properly in Device Manager. You should have these below sound, video and game controllers.

    1) AVerMedia, AVerTV WDM Audio Capture
    2) AVerMedia, AVerTV WDM Video Capture
    3) AVerMedia, AVerTV WDM TvTuner
    4) AVerMedia, AVerTV WDM Crossbar

Any little exclamation marks, and you have a problem. I wouldn't use the disc supplied as well. Download the 4.31 drivers from avertv.com. Make sure you install the drivers first, followed by the software. Follow their instruction supplied exactly. Also, in Control Panel, head to sounds and audio devices. Under the audio and voice tabs, make sure your sound card is chosen for all devices. (not your modem! haha) Triple verify your wires. You know how it is...

Which software are you using? Are you just trying to watch tv through the applet, or are you using another program to capture? You never did specify where you're not getting sound.

  3. I have an AVEREZDVD video card, and had the same problem with audio. I have an ASUS A7333 motherboard with built in audio, and could not get the audio to work. I shut down the onboard audio via (bios), installed a sound blaster platinum live card, and the audio works fine. I have no clue why the audio won't work with the onboard codec sound. Good luck....

  5. Nevermind.. I downloaded the new drivers and installed them and i have all 4 of them in the device manager without exclamation marks.

All devices are pointing to the sound card, not the modem.

All wires are in their right places.

    Whats wrong with it

    Hi
    What software u using???

PowerVCR2 automatically selects line in to play and record from but......
    some other software doesn't!!

You may have to turn them on manually from within your soundcard properties.
If u have a speaker icon in your taskbar double click on it. See if "line-in" is muted. And check recording is selected as "line-in".

  7. Your software should give you several options on sound input, line in, aux, mic, and maybe three more, same on video in. Check your options on the software.

  8. Like i said on my first post, i already had a capture card installed, and the sound worked. I didnt change any settings in any of the capture programs i had. Ive tried using virtual dub, iuvcr, and powervcr to see if the sound works, and neither of them make the sound work. I seriously doulbt the line in is muted, as i can't even find that little speaker icon. I don't think it changed itself to mute just because i changed capture cards. It used to be there, but disappeared from the taskbar and the start menu.

My line in is muted by default in W2K. So is MIC in. Try start/run sndvol32.exe and see if it returns. You want to view EVERYTHING,a dn look at recording, not jsut playback. IUVCR will un-mute audio when it launches. If it crahses, your audio may stay on...and you will hear the TV even though the player isn't seemingly running.

No little speaker icon may mean something is in conflict.

    Hi Tedbrownasdc.
I have been using the AverTV Studio for nearly 2 years.I have had alot of problems losing the audio when using the tuner sometimes after trying other software. However the external audio from the soundcard is usually unaffected. It seems to be a driver problem with the internal tuner.Occassionally I still lose the audio and the only way to retrieve is to reinstall the drivers and the application.I am using XP but the problem also occurred with 98.Sometimes with 98 if I momentarily swithed to the radio tuner then back to TV the Nicam sound returned.
Support at Averm UK has been good. When not wanting to wait for email support I have been able to speak straight to their technical support with barely a wait.
I am very pleased with the quality of capture.I can capture to full res.PAL 720*576 at 10000kb/s without frame loss. The only other program I have uused with a better picture is PowerVCR but my version doesn't work with XP.
