As I have just said (in the subject), I am not a complete newbie. I used to play VCDs on my PC but now I have a proper DVD player (Christmas present) that can play VCD/SVCD/MP3 etc. etc.
Therefore, that now gives me even more reason to experiment with VCDs. I have limited experience with creating VCDs. I've got about as far as authoring one with a menu, subtitles and transitions, so I know a bit about VCD structure.
Anyway, as Christmas is nearly over I want to put the Christmas video footage from my camcorder to a VCD. That is not a problem as I have a capture card. I have already encoded the VCD compliant .mpg and it is now waiting to be burnt onto CD.
However, as a final touch I want to put a bit of an intro movie at the beginning of my creation. Possibly something with scrolling text, a bit of music and a few screenshots from the movie, all tied together with some pretty transitions. However, I have no clue how I would go about doing this.
I am able to take the screenshots, and create a few background images using software like Paint Shop, but I need some software that will allow me to tie it all together with scrolling text, moving images, music and transitions as a 10 - 30second .AVI/.MPG
I have seen some software that ‘sort of’ offers what I want on this website, but I am looking for something a bit more simple. I have the idea of something with a timeline, which will allow me to add text, insert transitions, scroll pictures etc.

Price isn't a real issue but a demo would be nice. Any recommendations?

    Thanks in advance...

Try Ulead Video Studio demo. It does all that and is relatively simple to use.

  3. Several products would fit the bill. Form ulead there is VideoStudio 6 or for simple stuff DVD Moviefactory (that does VCD also) with demo versions www.ulead.com . Pinnacle Studio is good also www.pinnaclesys.com .

If you have a WinXP machine Windows MovieMaker 2 beta can do alot more than its predecessor and is free.

For logos etc. the site below has some good stuff for intros.
Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin'
