problems with dony du 500a

i am having problems with the sony du 500a when i want to go from tape to disc i get the following error message - could not complete the last command because - no audio decoder available for this stream type.

can i do everything with Pinnicle Studio 8 - capture edit and burn to the DVD writer?

I only have Pinnacle Studio 7 - I hear 8 has improvements but the MPEG encoding in 7 was weak. I would render to a high quality AVI then encode with TMPGenc. Then you can author the DVD with the Sony software or Nero or Maybe Ulead DVD MovieFactory.

You should be able to (I burn with Nero). I just recently finnished 77min home video with couple of menu (7000 kbit/sec, MPEG audio) and it looks good enough to me. TMPGenc might give you better quality, but I prefer using one tool for capturing, editing (cut, transitions, backround music, DVD menu) and authoring. Ony burn is step that I use Nero.
