Hey guys,
I really need help!
Attempts:
I have authored disks with Sinarist, DVDit, DVDMotion, Meistro, IfoEdit, and countless other software. I have tryed 3:2 pulldown and non 3:2 pulldown. I have tryed single AC3 tracks, dual AC3 Tracks. I have tried chapters, No chapters. I have tried DVD-R and DVD-RW. I have tried lowering bitrates.
I have tried all this, and diffrent countless combinations of them. However no matter how hard I try, I can't get any disks authored to work 100% correctly with my Pioneer 343!!!!
Symptoms:
Every disk I make pauses and stops as soon as audio kicks in, after 3 seconds of the Digital Light turning on. Fast forwarding and skipping ahead also produces a freeze up after about 3 to 5 seconds. Even using diffrent encoders, on the AC3 stream, or using original m2v stream rips causes the problem. About the only thing which doesn't cause the problem is creating a constant bitrate movie, which is really bad. Expecialy when real DVDs work perfectly fine on this player.
Request:
If ANYONE has a pioneer 343, and has correctly authored a DVD-R movie for it using IfoEdit, please let me know (A movie with chapters, and 2 AC3 tracks). Whats even more strange, I use a Pioneer A05, with Pioneer DVD-R Media!!!!!!

yep -- over 500 dvd-r burned on 104's , 105's and 201's tested on a 343 along with other players .. no problems at all ..
343 play anything until they wear out ..
sounds like a simple case of your max bit rate it to high (peaks), prob too high a ac3 encode also --
u spent a lot of money on author programs -- get your dealer to show you how to do it ..
and nothing wrong with CBR either -- if you have the space on the disk and its pretty well the same content at the higher bitrates. -
If you don't mind, may I ask how you author your disks?
About bitrates, what are the max which a Pioneer 343 can playback? Also, about CBR, is there a way to calculate whats the highest constant bitrate you can use to fit a movie on a DVD?
Im more intrested in your setup. Currently I do: DVD2AVI --> VirtualDub --> Tmpgenc --> m2v file.
DVD2AVI --> AC3 File(s)
Ifoedit --> Author disk --> m2v + AC3(s) + Chapter Cells --> Vob files --> Correct Ifo files using update --> Nero 5.5.17.0 --> ISO/UDF --> 1.2 --> Copy files and burn.
Now, ether IfoEdit just dosn't multiplex right, or my Tmpgenc settings are wrong (I used the DVD Template).
Just as a side note, the bitrate I doubt is the problem, since the movie freezes at any point (Not just at the peaks). In addition, they are the same specs as the DVD I ripped them from, which do work in the player.
Thanks, -
hmm - well i do FILM -> scan and primary color correct -> to DLT or firewire drives - > bunch of stuff (shake or fusion) -> big huge raid -> encoder (many types) -> (add menus made by someones else) maestro -> burn image with prassi or burn master with maestro on 201 and/or dump on DLT --> test
or just take the digital files at film resolution off the hard drives OR DLT or raid arrays and do same as above ..
max bit rate is 9000 or sometimes 9400 i use (for dvd -- i work more in High def) + audio bit rate , all dvd players can handle those bit rates if pressed - if burned and test dvd or such , 7000 is max i go ..
see my profile for additional info ... -
ISO/UDF --> 1.2
