  1. I have corporate divX ac3 latest codec.
I do not know why but I have downloaded 2 wierd movies.

Not the content, but the way they are displayed.
I am using wmp9 latest + all updates etc.

For one of the movies, there are like full wierd flashes of green/blue/yellow like a chessboard all flashing..

The second movie is fine, but the sound has a wierd echo and distortion of the sound.

Can you suggest a way to fix these problems?

  2. Simple: Don't use WMP9 anymore.
Try typing "mplayer2" in your Run box, if installed you will see an old version of the WMP which plays most movies just fine when WMP9 doesn't.
Or, even better: Use BSPlayer. It has an integrated AC3 decoder, supports nearly every video and audio format and has a lot of options.

But how does your question relate to the thread's topic? If you have a 2-channel source, MP3 should be the best way to compress your audio (160 or better 192 kbps). With more channels you should use AC3.

  3. okay.. i can live with the slight echo in sound for the second movie.

but for the first movie, you cant see anything basically..
Looks like a flashing chess board with blue/yellow/purple whathaveyou, any colour lol.

I have installed already Divx corporate 5.02 pro codec.

Theoretically that should play just about anything rite?
Could it be possible that it is just the problem with the divx file itself?
Because the first few seconds are excellent, and then it does that wierd stuff. I have tried bsplayer as well.

It's probably not a DivX. Just because it's avi doens't mean it's DivX. I personally prefer XviD over DivX 5.02. Try the latest XviD codec.

Is it a new release, or something older? I have found that 5.02 needs adjsutment to properly play 3.11/4.x DivX, it doesn't do it right for me with a default installation.
