  1. Gentlemen (and ladies),
Just wondering if any of you having problems with ripping subtitles from DVDs at all?

I'm using VobSub 2.22 and sometime VobSub could not create the index due to unable to find the DVD key. Although the subtitles are there and the DVD has been unlocked by WinDVD. VobSub still fails ... any help would be greatly appreciated.

PS not all DVDs... just a handful of DVDs where VobSub is unable to create the index (failed). Any ideas?

  2. hey,

i've actually run into a couple of problems w/ vobsub

    1) sometimes, vobsub indicates there's a bad header somewhere...in those cases, i just gave up and use flaskmpeg to get the subs

    2) in your case, when you're just about to start the subtitle extraction process, did you click on the bottom smaller button saying "OK" or "start" (or something similar)??? try clicking on the wide button in the middle saying "cross my fingers" (or something similar)

i believe if you click on the bottom button, vobsub requires that you did not use smartripper's "movie mode" to remove any seamless branching or multiangles....smartripper's "movie mode" usually modifies the vobs in some way. hence, you need to click on the middle wider button instead.

  3. No, no, no. I'm using VobSub 2.22 the latest version. With the new version there ain't those buttons anymore. Different interface now.

Anyway, I think it's the PowerDVD bug with WinXP SP1. Now I can't even play the DVD let alone rip it. I went for WinDVD and it works OK now. Well so far so good. I'll have to keep my fingers cross ...

  4. since the latest version seems to not work, perhaps you should try the earlier versions...i've actually kept an earlier version of vobsub because later versions seem to make weird-colored subs
