Hey, a friend of mine wants me to capture some public television programs for him (there's 12 episodes a month, each 1/2 hour) and make SVCD's then mail them. I thought it wouldn't be that hard but it took me like 3 days to do it. What would you guy's charge? I said $20 and he mailed the check but it wasn't really worth that since it includes the price of cd's and shipping. So I'll really be getting about $10 for spending hours converting SVCD's etc..

I know what you mean and losing money helping someone even though money is paid for the service. This happened to me and became unprofitable.
It is the cost of getting the recording media and the shipping gets you. Your time doesn't normally count. Why do you have to do the VCD's and this takes a lot of your time? Give video tapes instead?
I normally quote the charge ahead on what will cost me to provide the service for someone then I got less money. I am lucky to get 75% of what I am supposed to get.
I suppose helping someone is great. Money may not matter, getting rid of something quickly in a sale do wonders. It's gone.
