A friend of my ownes the same dvr-105 as me, only he downgraded his.
He can rip dvd's at 8x and I only at 2x speed. Is this because of the firmware or am I doing something wrong? I'm using an ata-100 cable with adaptec's newest aspi drivers and dvddecrypter.

i just ripped a 4 gig dvd on a 105 and it says 12,416KB/s 9.1x , 82.8x
connected via firewire and using dvd decrypter
just finished, from log :
17:44:20 Operation Successfully Completed! - Duration: 00:06:11
17:44:20 Average Read Rate: 10,239 KB/s (7.6x) - Maximum Read Rate: 12,416 KB/s (9.2x) -
well i don't know what version he used but he did a firmware downgrade.
I'm still using version 1.0 -
I ripped a movie at 8x, and I thought nice, thought it would be locked at 2x, and then I ripped another movie at only 2x.
turns out the first movie wasn't copy protected, so if it's copy protected it locks the speed at 2x.
have u experienced that same?
