When I rip DVDs and I use DVD2AVI to do the frameserving, it creates a D2V file that TMPG used to encode with no problems. I downloaded the newest version of TMPG which says includes the VFAPI plugins but when I try to convert the D2V file it says it's not supported. Does anyone know what causes this? Does anyone have an older version of TMPG they can link me to? For the time being I'm having to convert this D2V file to avi and then convert it to MPEG which looks like crap. PLEASE HELP!!!

Did you adjust your environmental settings? There is no mention of it in your post.
Hello. -
Sorry. Yes all the environmental settings have been changed. I've increased the priority of everything there so that it is over 2 or 3. I've even bumped them up to 5 and 6 and it still doesn't recognize the file format

*Bump* Still trying to see if anyone else has had similar problems and what was done to overcome them.

When I had problems with smartripper ("No Aspi Adapter Available")
I had to copy a file called WINASPI32.DLL to smartripper folder.
That solved the problem.
I tried a similar trick here. I suggest you to copy and paste (not
cut and paste) the file DVD2AVI.vfp from DVD2AVI folder to TMPGEnc
folder. This was enough for me to make sure that TMPGEnc accept
d2v files. You might need to create a new d2v file using DVD2AVI
after moving DVD2AVI.vfp to TMPGEnc folder. Good Luck. -
Thanks, I tried that but it still didn't work. I even renamed the DVD2AVI.vpf file to TMPGenc.vfp but it still didn't work. Oh well. I think I'm gonna start making all my movies in divx.

You don't need to rename DVD2AVI.vpf to TMPGenc.vfp as there is
already a file called TMPGenc.vfp in TMPGenc folder. If you don't
have such a file in TMPGenc folder you need to reinstall TMPGenc
again.
Untill last week I was using two operative systems (Windows XP and
Windows ME). I had no problems with TMPGenc. But last week I decided
to have only one operative system, so I reformatted my harddisk and
installed only Windows XP. After that TMPGenc refused to accept d2v
files. I tried all tricks one can think of without success.
Finally i solved the problem by copying DVD2AVI.vfp file from DVD2AVI
folder to TMPGenc folder. Remember you must also have both above
folders in one and same folder (for instance C:\Program Files). I also
raised priorities in environmental settings before moving DVD2AVI.vfp
file (however just adjusting environmental settings won't help you
here).
Sorry I don't have any more worthwhile advice to give you. -
Thanks. Yeah, I tried everything just like that and still no luck. I may just stop using TMPG for making my VCDs. I'm actually going to stop making VCD's all together and try to perfect the method of making Divx's with ac3 sound and, using Micro DVD, to make animated menues and such.
I;m going to build a dedicated computer that will be plugged directly into the TV and I'll use that as my divx server.
Hell, almost perfect quality video, EXACTLY perfect ac3 surround and all the same menues as on a DVD.... I'm going for it!
Thanks for your suggestions!
