  1. Ok here's my situation. I have backed up about 10 dvd's with my hp 200i successfully. Using nero to make the burn.

Let's just say I backed one up and lost the original so I had to download it and so I could make another backup. Anyway I followed the guide on here about converting from mpeg to dvd format to the t. Worked great!! Put it in my cpu dvd player and it played it flawlessy, went to put it in my standalone and came up like it was going to play it (said play up in the corner), but it just came up blank. I'm stumped. Did I miss an ifo or a vob or something that my standalone needs to read in order to play it.

Like I said I have backed up many already with the same drive and the same media and the same standalone and all the same conditions without a problem.

This is my first time doing it this way so I could have not done something wrong or forgot something.

Thanks in advance for your time and help.

I don't know if this will be of any help, but here goes!

I've been playing with my new TDK 4xIndiDVD burner, which does DVD+R and DVR+RW. After doing a "successful" burn of The Fifth Element, which played just fine with PowerDVD, I put the disk in my standalone APEX 1100W. It loaded up and acted like it was going to play --- the play message came up --- but then it just *died*. I figured I had somehow bunged up the recording and was about to toss the disk, when on a lark I decided to stick the disk in my Emerson combo DVD/VCR, which I hardly ever use because it won't play SVCDs. Not expecting anything good, I stuck it in and was amazed when the original Fifth Element DVD menu came up on the screen! I selected "Play" and all was wonderful --- the movie looked great!

So, my curiousity peaked, I put the disk back in the Apex 1100W (yes, a real cheapo player but it had always played anything I threw at it) and the same old behavior --- disk loads up, play message comes on, and nothing happened. I press Play on my remote and nothing happened. Then I remembered that on the Emerson the DVD menu came up first. So I went ahead and pressed the Menu key on my remote, and lo and behold the DVD menu came up and I was able to choose and play the movie from there!

I guess what I'm trying to say in a long-winded way --- try pressing a bunch of buttons on your remote before you give up, especially the Menu button. Good luck!! :P :P

  3. Go out and get one of the free bitsetters so it will burn all your +R's as a DVD-ROM, then thay will play in about 95% of the players out there and I have a 200i I done this and have not found a player yet that it will not play in.
