  1. Greetings,

I recently just found out about VCD's and I wanted to try it out. I followed this complete guide

    http://www.vcdhelp.com/divxtovcd.htm

and I still have a sound problem. The sound only comes out of the left speaker of my tv. Nothing comes out of the right. When I turn the balance of the sound to the right... the volume just goes down. What could be my problem?

  2. In Virtualdub check the File > File Information...
In the audio section does it say 2 channel stereo?
If you play back the original Divx on your computer is it on one side only?
if so.....other than downloading or obtaining another copy, you can convert the audio to mono in Virtualdub by:
File > Open Movie > Audio > Conversion > Mono > Audio > Direct Stream Copy > Video > Direct Stream Copy > File > SAve As AVI

  3. It works fine on my computer, Comes out both just fine. When I go put it in the dvd player it plays yet it only comes out the left speaker. Not the right. I have tried this with about 5 movies. Same thing. But when I turn the dvd player off and go watch tv, the sound comes from both speakes.

  4. Ah...sounds like a wiring or connection problem with your DVD player....
Put in a store bought DVD and see the results..

well...if your store bought DVD's work ok...then it is'nt a problem with the DVD player.
I find it really starnge how you can play them ok on your computer but only on one channel of your DVD player??
    Try an experiment.
If you have a CDRW disk, record a 5 minute encoded video..
then try a short song in WAV format(audio CD) and see how they play.
Don't waste anymore CDr until you have it sorted out.
