Hauppauge PAL BT878 capturing : best method ?

Hello, I'm very new to this and I could use some help.
My Hauppauge tv-card (nicam-tt-radio-tv) has the ability to capture steams to AVI. Some settings are asked and I don't know which to choose to make a good decision. My goal is to author a vcd in reasonably good quality that is in 16:9 are full screen. I will use tempgenc to convert avi to mpg.
Settings that I can set while capturing are about audio quality : which is a good setting and compatible with vcd later ? I also can set frames 320x and lower, but I think also 640x Should I take 640x or will 320x do ?
Any other advice ?
