ERROR WHEN USING SONY DU 500A

I GET THE FOLLOWING ERROR MESSAGE WHEN I AM READY TO BURN A DISC - NO AUDIO DECODER AVAILABLE FOR THIS STREAM TYPE - DVDERR - 47002 WHAT CAN I DO TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM?

What software were you using and what type of video file?

i am using mydvd software that came with the unit and trying to capture a digital camcorder video

You might consider buying a decent Firewire capture program since that package is not known for doing it well. Pinnacle Studio 8 is supposed to be good and Ulead www.ulead.com has some good products also that are inexpensive.

The latest is Ulead Video Studio 6, I don't know if 4.0 have firewire capture capabilities.

Go to ulead.com and download some of the latest trials there, I believe you can capture with them for 30 days.

Ulead VideoStudio 6 is an excellent product and will capture and edit your video nicely. I'm not sure if 4.0 had the firewire capture or not - you'll have to decide to try it or to get the upgrade to 6.0 at www.ulead.com

Once you have DVD compliant MPEG2 files ready in VideoStudio you can use a number of burning programs to get it on the disc. You can try the software in the Sony package or buy Nero www.nero.com which is excellent. If you decide on Nero then make sure you select burn DVD UDF/ISO and check the 1.02 box for greatest DVD player compatibility.

From your information, I think you have a software problem that will not go away with other DVD Writer.

would you recommend the sony du 500a? and will i need just the unlead studio version 6? will that do it for me?

Hi, first of all it's not the burner that's causing the error message here it's the software and encoding thats doing it. Do yourself a favor and get that Sony burner back in your computer. If you can afford why not have the best multi-format burner available. Pinnacle Studio 8 will definitely handle all your video chores and can be had for fairly cheap. But, definitely get back that Sony DRU-500A!!!!

I am not 100% sure... but I believe that almost any firewire card (or your interbak port that you already have) should be OK for use with Pinnacle's Studio 8. For more information you should go to Pinnacle's web forum. Studio is arround quite some time so you should be able to find answer in existing posts on their forum.

Anyway.... Why did you return Sony drive ???

I AM TRYING TO INSTALL A PINNACLE CAPTURE CARD BUT NO LUCK - I HAVE A COMPUTER THAT CAME WITH A FIREWIRE PORT BUT THE SOFTWARE THAT CAME WITH THE SONY DU 500A DOES NOT SEEM TO WORK WITH THE OLD CARD. DO I HAVE TO INSTALL THE PINNACLE PROGRAM FOR THE PINNACLE CAPTURE CARD TO WORK PROPERLY? THANKS MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL
