    When I try to burn a file onto a Sony -R DVD, I get a message from RecordNow DLA that the media in my drive is "read only". Can anyone help?

    DLA isn't a CD/DVD recording program, RecordNow is. If you're using DLA you need to format a DVD+RW or DVD-RW or CD-RW.
