Converting to .str

Im new at this and was wondering if its possible to convert divx, avi or mpeg to .str so that I can view movies through my playstation 1. If its not, I'll have to get myself a dvd!!!! Please reply.

Yes it is possible but its really not recommended. There is a program called avi2str which can do it. The compression is very bad so a regular movie might take 6, 7, maybe 8 cdrs. You will also need a very large hard drive to do the conversion. Also the quality is pretty terrible in my opinion. Sorry I don't know where to find the program, its not that popular because its really not worth it. I would recommend just buying a cheap dvd player if all you want to do is watch vcd/svcd quality video.
