I have encoded 2 divx movies with "interlaced" and "field bottom B" and both went well.

Use "progressive" for stuff shot originally on film, "interlaced" for stuff shot on video. field order matters for "interlaced" only. Try "bottom" first and if it doesn't look right (strongly visible flickering during movement), try "top".

What do you mean, can you explain more.
If I wánt to make a vcd of a divx then does it matter if I choose interlaced or not and what about the field order?
What should I take if I want to make a vcd of a xvid?

  7. VCD is mpeg-1 which does NOT support interlaced. In TmpGenc, if you set Stream Type to Mpeg-1 video you do NOT get the option of encoding interlaced mode. As I said Divx is is ALWAYS progressive and although Xvid may support interlaced encoding I have yet to hear of it being used.

SVCD and DVD are mpeg-2 which DOES support interlacing. So if you are encoding to mpeg-2 then you can encode interlaced. However, if the source is progressive it does not make any sense to do so.

No,I do get the option Iterlaced even if I choose mpeg-1.
I always encode to mpeg-1 and it works to choose interlaced, but I don´t even know whati it is.
I have read this giude abouy fitting a movie to one disc.Check it out yourselves and it says to choose interlaced.
