  1. Hello All!

I downloaded few avi files but when i try to play in windows media player, i only get black screen and no sound, even though the bar is moving.
I also tried to play using DIVX Playa 2.0 but it says can not open files.
I noticed that the file is 320x288.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    homenet

  3. Hello!

    Thanks for the reply.
In facy i already have dl codecs from divx.com and the latest playa2.0 but
the avi file do not run. I am not sure what codecs I need becuase some avi files run O.K while others do not.
Any pointers to codecs will be good.

  4. go to tools at the left and download gspot.
it will tell ya which codec(divx, xvid)
if it says you have the right codec then look at the bitrate,if it says somthing like 20kb/s its fake.
installing nimo codec pack and xvid you should be able to play almost all avi's.

  5. Hello!

I did install nimo codec but I still can not play certain avi files i got it from
kazaa and winmx. I used the gspot and it said no codec needed and bit rate was also not 20 kb/s. Any other clue please.

    thx.

  7. Hello!

I tried as you suggested to one of the avi files I was not bale to play. It still did not make a difference. I later found out that the file was fake as windows media was showing that it is playing the file but no sound and picture. It was one of those Newfxp files and in one of the forum someone said that these type of files are fake.
I stalled Nimo codec and was able to play my other good avi files.

    Thanks.
