  1. I have the DIVX version 5.0.2. I can't WATCH some movie and I want to know why. I right click on the movie that I downloaded, scroll down and click on PROPERTIES, than I click on SUMMARY, and I saw that the movies im able to watch are "VIDEO COMPRESSION MS-MPEG4 V3". The one I can't watch are "VIDEO COMPRESSION DIVX CODEC"

Question? What do I need to download (codec) or need to do to watch the movies that are Video Compression "DIVX CODEC"

Use a little program called GSpot which tells you which codecs the movie is in and if you have installed it.You can get it from here:

    jtquest,

How are you bringing in the divX clip ??
    ie, are you:
    * What app is telling you these errors ??
    * using a divX player ?? if so, whats' the app you're using ??
    * else, R U using vdub, but it's telling you it can't load it ??

I would at least try and open them in vdub, as it will open these files
if you have the CODEC(s) installed.

  10. Okay, this is what I have done so far.
    1. deleted all codec, divx, etc... from my computer.
    2. I downloaded NiMo Codec Pack.
    3. Try opening the video with "windows media player 9.0" just like I do all others. I can see that its playing but I see no picture or sound.
    4. I use GShot to read the "DIVX CODEC VIDEO" and NOW it says that "GSHOT has found DIXV Decoder Filer, which is installed on your system, is a compatible with this format; based on that, the video for this should play fine"
BUT the problem is that it does not work. I downloaded another video with DIVX CODEC VIDEO and it doesn't work.
    5. I search to find the CODEC that GShot say I have to make it work and it the XviD Codec. HHMMM
    6. Downloaded Vdub, and that doesn't work. Maybe I just don't know how to work Vdub?

What im I doing wrong or not doing? I still can not view the DIVX CODEC VIDEO's.
    HHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPP!

Hmm strange, try this and see if it works:

Uninstalled all DivX codecs and xvid codecs,(Nimo Pack etc.)
You can then install xvid codecs from here:
    http://www.divx-digest.com/software/xvid.html

Then install all DivX codecs separat (Not from Nimo).
    http://www.divx-digest.com/software/divxcodec.html

After that install Nimo Pack but uncheck all divx codecs and the xvid codec and also uncheck a direct show filter which is Ffdshow DirectShow
    Install Nimo from here:
    http://www.divx-digest.com/software/nimo_pack.html

    Now all should work fine!

By the way,AC3 comes with the Nimo Pack and I installed this with
Nimo Pack Build 8,not the new Build 9

I too had problems watching movies but then I installed all my codecs that way and not having any problems since then.

  12. crack_man, thx for trying to help me. I did everything you said. BUt no luck. This is what GSPOT is saying;

    "Format: DivX 5.0, 4CCX50

GSpot has found FFdshow MPEG-4 Video Fecoder, which is installed on your system, is a compatible with this format; based on that, the video for this file should play fine.

DirectShow is apparently able to play the file as well (see Directshow Render, below), though it has selected a different codec, the DivX Decoder Filer, whose primary 4CC (DIVX) does not match the file"s 4CC (DX50). This is because the codec claims to be able to decompress 14 others formats besides DIVX, and this format is number 5 on that list.

This is usually not a problem, but under certain circumstances there may be a performance (quality) issue".

I read english but I have no idea what this means? No sound no movie??
    WHAT CAN I DO?

    morning jtquest,

I still can't believe you are having probs w/ viewing your divX 5 clips.

Perhaps you should send us (upload somewere's) a small sample of
this "headacke" clip of yours ??

IF you can't cut it to a small piece by using vdub, does anyone know of
a suggestion on HOW to cut it. I have one, but will keep it to myself cause
it's VERY complicated AND I don't know for sure that it will work. I rather
not put jtquest though MORE headackes.
Anyways, this way, maybe WE can open and view the clip and or view
it's contents and help you better. Could just very well be that you PC
setup is bad/fussy or clip is VOID.

Please look into CUTting your clip for UPLOADING..
