  1. I just finished my first 2 BeAll Samsung disks and I thought that I will share my experience.

First, I was able to burn this disk at 2.0x speed with Nero, but when I tried to play it in my standalone players, but after first 10 minutes it started to show some blockines and later it freezed. So result... NOT GOOD.

Second, I burned same data, same software but I picked 1.0x speed in Nero. This time it works great in all my players.... => GOOD

So .... sometimes ..... even that your burner let you burn 1x media at 2x speed it doesn't mean it will work...

More details about my test can be found here : SONY DRU-500A Detail media report

Aren't the BeAll DVD-R media rated at 1x? As far as I know, BeAll is not a Samsung company and that is why it is called BeAll instead of Samsung. Samsung itself imports DVD recordable media from Taiwan makers. BeAll Developers is a company founded by former Samsung media experts two years ago.

There are both Samsung DVD-R media and BeAll DVD-R media in Seoul but another Samsung-related media company called Saehan sells Mitsubishi/Verbatim 2x DVD-R media for about the same price (not sure whether they borrow the technologies and make their own disks or just import the discs from Verbatim and then label them as Saehan).

Do the jewel cases or the spindle cases have "Samsung" clearly written?

  3. Yes. It looks like you are correct (not like meritline). On package I can see this...

    BeAll Developers, Inc.

    and then "SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS SPIN-OFF"

Yes they are rated 1x but in Nero it let me to chose 2x. BUrning finished just fine... Only small problem. I can't play disk for more then 10 minutes so I can burn 2x only if my video is less then 10 minutes..... JUST JOKING
