  1. Why are some vcds in the form of a dat file where as others remain .mpeg. Is there a difference?

  2. For correctly authored VCDs, ALL the media files have the extension of .DAT.

For SVCDs, they have the extension of .MPG.

  3. Thanx vitualis. Ive just been reading (on this forum) that people are dragging and dropping .mpeg (VCD compliant) files onto cdr and they play the way they are. In fact a friend of mine who downloads movies off of Kazaa quite often tells me with certainty that all he does is burn the files the way they are and watches them on his DVD player (stand alone). Is this possibe, and if not how does that make sense?

    Thanks

  4. Some players can play "an MPEG on a CD-ROM". These are not VCDs and don't play on most players.
