  1. Hi all!

First day in Forum and I have read as much as possible on addressing my questions before posting. A few questions still remain...

)If converting from and .avi to vcd, one would use Virtual DUb to convert the audio to .wav as I understand it. What stage in the process is this huge .wav file embedded back into the vcd?

    2) I have some vcds that are able to play in my DVD player, but are .dat files on my PC. Through the process explained here, isn't my end result to be an .mpeg file. And if I'm using tmpge to convert it from .avi to .mpeg, then why do I eed vcdeasy to burn a file that is already encoded. Why can I not use roxio?

    3) Are all .avi files divx?

I know there are more than 3 questions here, disguised as 3.
Thanks in advance for the info.

  2. 1)when you add the video,if you use tmpgenc the audio input is right next to the video input.open the wav there.
3)no,divx is an codec that compress an avi.without it,an avi file would be huge.
    xvid is an other codec.

  3. Thank You Zodiac.

If I may oblige you, for my second question...

Is this correct...TMPGE converts the avi to mpeg, the vcd easy then burns it as a dat file?

  4. You got it. You need to have a working .mpg first and then during the burn process it is turned into a .dat.
