I have a dat file that i would like to convert to mpeg, i have tried using the VCDGear but once completed when I try to play the mpeg I get an error "No combination of filters could be found to render the stream" however when i play the DAT file it plays fine. Does anyone have any idea what i could do to convert it over?

Though that just let's you open it with media player without going to Open with... or associating .dat files with media player, it's still not really an .mpg. If you were to try loading it into something like VCDEasy it would probably tell you as much and not let you load it. Try VCDGear again but disable file splitting and fix errors and see if that works or you could try using something like TMPGEnc and doing a simple multiplex using the .dat file as both video and audio source, that should at least give it a proper header.

  5. Yeah, i burned 50 roswell episodes, before i got my dvd burners,
an a05 and a 105 now, i think i might convert them back to mpg
so i can burn each episode to a dvd,not sure though....

  6. LOL, that was a quick and dirty fix, but the best way is to use VCDEasy to reverse the process. Select TOOLS, then the MPEG SCAN tab. At the bottom of the screen, simply load your DAT file then click on convert.
