  2. You can try to burn it, but it may not be a VCD compliant MPEG file. If you use Nero (and Roxio, I think), the VCD burn routine automatically checks the file to verify it complies and warns you if it doesn't. If it is close, some machines will play it (my Sharp will in some cases). But compatibility is not guaranteed. If it is something completely foreign, you'll definately have to re-encode.

  3. Use a program like "iFilmEdit" to convert the Mpeg to VCD (Mpeg1) format.

maginniss, usually when I download an MPEG, I re-convert it to another MPEG so I know it is fully compliant. Usually MPEG's that you download are probably non-compliant.

Hope The Suggestion Helps You!!! :P

  5. You can try, and if the automatic checking does not detect a problem you're in good shape. But I'd guess the vast majority of mpg's you download will not be compliant. And when you re-encode the resulting quality will look less than stellar on a large TV screen.

You can try Tmpgenc to remux to VCD-mpeg1 (not re-encode). Use Tmpgenc's Mpeg tools, it worked for me in the past. Also, because of errors, I had to use some of the mpeg correction utilities first. You'll find them in the tools section fo this site.
