  1. Hello All,

As you can tell I am new here. Which means I am new to the hobby. I have been reading many guides and did a seach under star trek. 166 post later I did not find the answer I was looking for, but i did learn alot. I was wondering if you ripped a DVD with seperate tv shows on it (like star trek, law and order etc..) Could you spilt two episodes apart from each other and burn two DVD's without re-encoding the shows? Also what does this do to the interface? Can you just set up the new DVDr as chapter 1 and 2? If so can someone point me to the correct guide or post. Or give me a very quick idiots breakdown and i'll do the follow up research.

    Thanks is advance.

Good news! You don't need to re-encode anything!

There is a guide on this site that explains what you need to do.

Post again if you have trouble.

This is how I do Star Trek TNG. Rip each episode to a separate directory on the HD as one large file. Demux the vob with Tmpeg into m2v and ac3.
Import them into SpruceUp. Set a menu to select each episode. I capture a screen from the DVD to use as a menu backround in Spruce. I also use the vob of the start sequence from the DVD as my first play in Spruce.
    Compile and burn with Nero.

  4. Hey Thanks for your time and help. I have another question. When I open Decrypter on a Star Trek TNG DVD, How do I tell which files belong to which episode? All I would like to do is burn two episodes per disk without re-encoding as to keep original quality. Is there a gudie, with screen shots, that breaks that down. The break down I was given is great but I got stumped reading the VOD file. (step 1 and I'm already in trouble. This is going to be a long week) I have been reading for three days and figuring some stuff out but getting lost with others.

Also most guides use DVDMaestro which is no longer sold (Thanks again Mac, another good company falls to the empire) Is there still a place I may be able to find it on the web? If not what is the most common replacement these days?

Open DVD Decrypter and use IFO mode. It will show you four movies. THat's the four episodes on the DVD. Rip each one to a directory as one large file. They'll probably be in the same order as the DVD but check each rip with a software player.
