  1. Can somebody tell me what is this problem (these lines) called and what do you have to select so that they dont appear. This happens to me when I capture to avi using Vdub, and everything else using codecs like MJPEG, and all others including, uncompressed, and all formats and settings.

    thank you

(i dont know if these images will be displayed, since they are not in the preview window. NEways image #1 is good, image #2 is the next frame where these lines appear)

I don't see anything wrong with the first image. The second looks like it is interlaced. To get rid of it apply the deinterlace filter, if you are saving to view just on your computer or are converting to VCD. If you are converting to SVCD leave it and you won't see it when you view it on your standalone, as SVCD by nature is interlaced.

Definately am interlace issue. what you do about it depends on what the ultimate encoded product is. If your just looking at the capture on you PC, don't worry about it.

  4. I will be re-encoding some clips to VCD, while others to SVCD. I will not be looking at it on the PC. I tried applying a deinterlacing filter in VDUB before I encoded it, and it seems to be improved, however not every frame is crisp, when there is movement the hand is in two positions, but it's blurry and looks alot better, this is probably normal, and if it is Im not complaining.

Does this happen to everybody, and then they get rid of this when re-encoding to VCD, SVCD, DIVX?

should I apply the filter before capture, or after capturing?

    thanks
