    w/o all the fuss in one of the DVD ripping programs? The DVD-R is not a movie, but a recording made from a videotape onto DVD-R.

    No, you must convert to vcd. You copy the video_ts folder to your hd and then you convert to any vcd as you would have been ripping and converting a standard dvd.
