I am trying to create a DVD and maintain the 5.1 surround. I have a question and hopefully someone has the answer. I an xvid file that has ac3 audio (stereos 5 identified by virtualdub). I extracted audio with virtualdub. When i encode with the mainconcept 1.3 encoder, it identifies the sound for dvd as LPCM. If I encode it this way converting to DVD, is that likely to keep the 5.1 sound? I encoded a couple of minutes worth to see if it would have sound when I played it back with a dvd program on the computer and it sounded like 5.1 to me but I don't a 5.1 setup on my computer (I use the old 4 point surround from cambridge and creative labs)?

Do you know of another program that could mux the audio and video? Everytime I have tried to mux audio/video with tmpgenc, the sound is always off from the video. Also does the main encoder mux it down to dolby surround? I was just curious as to what it did to the audio. Thanks for the info.

main concept audio output is pcm or mpeg1 audio
yes there are other muxers such as vitec and manzanita, but they are expensive .. manzanita (which i use) allows for any offset for either/or both video or audio.
