Cannot copy an AVI to different drive...not enought room!?

Using Pinnacle Studio 8, I have captured a 13 gig AVI file...when I try to copy it to another drive/partition, it tells me there is not enough room...but there is!...36 gig seems to be a large enough space for a 13 gig file...does this have something to do with the whole 2 gig AVI problem and Pinnacle is fudging the parameters?

Is the drive you are trying to move the file to NTFS or FAT32. If it is FAT32 you will have problems due to the file size limitation.

In more detail, FAT32 has a 4GB file size limit.

NTFS has no such limit, for all practical purposes.

Check your RECYCLE BIN. Windows shows the space used by erased files as available, but it won't actually give it to you until you remove them from the RECYCLE BIN.

In windows XP, explorer does not show the space available until the recycle bin has been emptied. For example if you delete a 10GB file, that 10 GB is not shown as free space until the file is removed from the recycle bin.

DUH (THUD!...sound of me hitting myself in the head)...of course...FAT32...forgot that when I did a reinstall I made it FAT32 instead of the other drive's NTFS...Thanks to all
