Hello!
I am looking into getting a capture card for my computer. I have a 2.24ghz with plenty of ram and memory for video capture. However, I have noticed that many cards have problems with the OS I am running (Windows XP Pro). I am looking for a capture card so I can capture television using coax input. I am hoping I can get a straight TV card and not another video card, as the video card I have now I don't want to replace. Any suggestions? (I want good quality, but also not too expensive.) Thanks!

Greetings from Scotland and a very merry XMAS
Look no further than the ATI TV Wonder. Its pretty cheap here in the UK (about £40, $60???).
Even though its a cheap card the quality of the captures are really good. Also since it uses WDM drivers it works with all the standard capture, video editing software.
You'll hear people moaning about the drivers you get with it. Don't worry they're just a bunch of girls who don't know what they're doing!
Kind regards

Though that card is an inexpensive one, and my problems were not do to the software. If you have certain Via chipsets on your computer, look forward to trouble. This will mostly come in the form of IRQ conflicts. Also the tuner on that card is weak (at best). Lots of people are recommending the WinTV PVR 250 (or something like that), but it is more than twice the price of the TV wonder. Now I just hope you don't get the women here angry, that might get us all in trouble
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they? -
Have you read the capture cards section?
