Thanx for all the info guys... I'm still a rookie at this stuff, but I'm slowly getting the hang of it. And yes, at some point I plan to convert these avi to mpegs. Also, so most VCDs you buy in a store come as 2 disks? Wow, I always thought they just super compressed the movie onto 1 cd.

Not seen any VCD's in the shops for a long time, they are all DVD's. Asia has VCD's, dont know of any other countries ?

But why in the FAQ about frameserver do they say name the file as "video.vdr.avi"?

Later TMPG versions should accept .vdr as well as .vdr.avi.
Some other encoders do not accept .vdr files, for example cce. Maybe older TMPG versions didn't too, this is just a guess.
    Follow the Vdub frameserve guide.
    Pay attention at this:

If TMPGenc gives you an error when opening the video.vdr.avi click on Option->Enviromental settings.
And this window appear, click on VFAPI plugin and right click on the DirectShow Multimedia File Reader and select Higher priority.
    Now try to open video.vdr.avi.
Remember to after you have encoded the video.vdr.avi to Lower priority on the Directshow Multimedia File Readear to avoid problem open other videos

After finish encoding uninstall the frameserver by running the PROXYOFF.REG.
