When capturing with Premiere6.5 I can only do just that on my computer.
If I try any other task it pauses/stops the capture.
Is this normal?
I'm using firewire capture from a Sony TRV900 camcorder.
Thanks!

can you capture directly from vcr or tv with premier i was wondering this earlier ... it only mention about DV
-
Silver,
I've captured from VCR and Satellite by using my camcorder as a passthrough device.
I haven't tried it any other way. -
If I understand you correctly you want to capture from DV in Premiere but also do other tasks on your PC? If so then that is a bad idea and maybe Premiere is cleverly intentionally stopping you from doing this. When capturing you are using alot of resources on your PC, especially disk I/O.
When capturing you should have as many background tasks turned off, i.e. virus checkers, firewalls, screen savvers, power management features, etc. So trying to run another forground task is definitely not a good idea !! -
yes this is normal
and as q1aqza said, it's a bad idea to try to do anything else anyway
