Hi. I have been capturing 4 a while and havn't had a big problem with droppage. Usually about 1 per minute. Anyway, I have the ATI AIW VE card and I just started using the sourceforge drivers so I could capture at a higher resolution. The first 2 I did w/ the new drivers did ok. Well, I just tried one and it dropped 45 frames in like 10 seconds! I used the PICvideo JPEG compressor set on 18, no audio compression, 44/16/stereo, at 480x480. Same settings as always except for the video (the movie is 2 1/2 hours long, I usually set at 19.) Anyway, I don't know what to do about it. Any suggestions?

Have you added any new software lately, or changed any settings, whatsoever on your computer? Try changing the compression setting back to 19 and see if the number of dropped frames decreases. There is a pretty good guide here: http://www.vcdhelp.com/forum/userguides/81808.php on tuning a system for ATI captures.

One a minute? That is a lot in my humble opinion. The movie? VHS? I have issues with some VHS tapes too. I ALWAYS drop many more frames from VHS than from my sat tv box. I've come to the realization that it is normal for VHS to drop more frames..... Look up "time base corrector" here if you are capturing VHS tapes. Maybe that can help....
