  1. Hi,

I wasn't sure which forum to post this in so I just went for the general one. My problem is with Pinnacle Studio 7 Digital video editor, and also Pinnacle Express which is a VCD/DVD burning program.

I recently installed a new mobo with onboard 1394 port, and I have a sony digital8 camcorder. Capturing Video through the firewire port works great with studio 7, and I am able to edit the video fine. However, when I try to finalize the project and output it back to the DV camcorder, the output contains a high amt. of interference (a warbling sound and colored blocks blocking most of the picture). When I create the project as a AVI file or Mpeg file, it comes out great.

Now I would assume that the problem lies in my firewire connection to the camcorder, but I am having the exact same problem when I try to burn the created AVI file to a VCD. This program doesn't involve the firewire port at all, but the problem is basically the same. I'm stumped. Using Nero, I am able to burn the AVI file to a VCD without any problem, so I don't think the problem is with the CD burner.

Pinnacle Support is not very good, and I'm running out of options. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  2. Does anybody know anything about interference that might be getting into the firewire connection. I got rid of pinnacle, and tried output with a differnent editing software, and still got the same interference. Any help??? Please

  3. When you want to record back to your Camcorder, the file must be the DV avi file format. What format did you capture with? When you burn to a VCD, the file format must be a VCD compliant mpg-1 file.

  4. The format is avi for the DV, and an Mpg for the Pinnacle. It records and burns like it should, except for the fact that there is interference. I think it may be an motherboard problem with the onboard firewire vs. the pci firewire card I used to use.

  5. Yes, forget about good support from Pinnacle but I have gotten some good suggestions on other issues from the user's forums at:
