I have ripped a 7 GB DVD to my harddisk. I have stripped all the junk that I don't need, like menu's and extra's. I would like to re-encode the DVD to 4,3 GB, so that it would fit on 1 DVD+R.
I tried to use DVD2AVI and TMPGEnc. However, when I try to use DVD2AVI, the program only creates a project-file *.d2v. No AC3 or WAV-file. The *.d2v cannot be read by TMPGEnc.
I have fought myself through many ripping and encoding-guides, but I can not find what I do wrong.
Can anybody tell me what I should do after creating the *.d2v-file with DVD2AVI. In the guides I'm told that DVD2AVI should create 2 files, 1 for audio and 1 for video, but on my harddisk it never happens.
Hope somebody can advise.

Have you checked track 1 is selected under audio?
give it another gored red wine you make me feel so fine -
Hi Ilscuro,
Yes, I have put track 1 under audio. Just like MPEG Audio and Dolby Digital are on Demux. As described in the guide.
But unfortunately it won't work. -
As a workaround you could use CLADDVD which if ime not mistaken produces d2v file and see if that one works in TMPGENC

go into the enviroment settings in tmpgenc and make sure it finds the vfp file for dv2avi.

I downloaded the trial version of TMPGEncv2.59 to help with the backing up of my DVD movies. I uesd DVD2API to create a *.d2v file and an *.ac3, but TMPGE keeps telling me that the files are unsupported. I have tried many uninstalls and reinstalls to no avail. I have also tried setting the Directshow priority to 1 and even manually pasted the DVD2AVI.vpf file into TMPGEnc's file but even that didn't work. I'm at my wits end here. What gives?

Hi,
To use .d2v files you have to use a program called VFAPI Reader Codec 1.04. Search the net for it. You load the .d2v file and click go or whatever and it creates a .avi file and a .wav file
Hope that helped
