  1. I am converting a downloaded DIVX (.avi) movie to MPEG2 w/ TMPEG. I get about an hour 18min into the source video and TMPEG crashes and will not complete the conversion.

I have the codecs installed, I have changed the direct show and multimedia thing, and I'm still having problems.

The resulting portion of the file I have converted is excellent!, I have no quams about that.

Does this have something to do with the 2gig avi file size limit I hear about occasionally???

    HELP!

    I doubt it.
Two things spring to mind. The first is, have you used virtualdub to scan the video for errors. These don't normally cause Tmpgenc to crash as such but it will stop encoding with an error message.
The second thing is, do you ever run your PC at 100% for several hours doing anything other than encoding. It could be overheating. Obviously this will not be the case if it is just Tmpgenc crashing, overheating will crash/lock the whole system.
