  3. Yes of course, or else I wouldn't be here right?
Anyways, yeah I just simply can't load my avi file when I want to convert it. In virtualdub, it says it cannot determine the file type.

It could be a missing codec on your machine (e.g. xvid).

Use AVICodec (You can find it under Tools to determine what codec the AVI is using.)

If Avicodec shows a "Green Tick" next to the avi, then you do have the correct codecs, so please ignore me

<edit> Sorry, you can't get it from tools here (I'm sure that's where i got it from though). Try http://avicodec.duby.info instead

  5. Thanks for the tool Grumpy! It seems that the file is okay, it has the video and audio codecs. Is it possible that there is some imcompatability issues with TMPGenc and virtualdub? I still cannot load the file in either of the programs. I download a tool called GSPOT and it identified the video and audio codecs that the avi file is using. For the video it says that the codec is not installed! The strange thing is that the codec it uses says DivX 5.0 and this 4cc code named DX50. Some help would be greatly appeciated! Thanks in advance!
