  1. I just got my WinTV PVR, and I haven't had a chance to play with it a lot. But, when I set it up, and it did a channel scan, it didn't find any of my cable channels. Is there something special that I have to do? Or, should it autodetect them? Any help would be appreciated.

What type of antenna did you select from the list, if you search the wrong antenna (frequency range) you wont find any channels.

  3. Make sure your PVR is hooked up to raw cable, no cable box or VCD before the PVR.If you have a cable box then running into the PVR then all you will get is either channel 3 or 4 whatever the box is set to.
I have a PVR, but just use the SVHS and audio imputs only, let me tell you forget the VCD setting, it SUCKS, use the patch that hampuagge has at their web site for SVCD and DV settings, SVCD MPEG2 is fantastic.
Their patch is only for WIN98SE, WIN98ME, NT, WIN2000.
If you have WIN98 1st edition or like me WIN98 Gold it will not work.
If you can't get the patches I have special regedit patches I got from the german hampuagge site that let you change any settings you want manually. email me at
thxkid@hotmail.com if you need the patches, only about 200k size.
