    Hi guys,

Sometimes when I play back VCD or SVCD on my DVD player I get mosaicing & freezing up during play back.

I think this is due to either the burning or the CD-R's i'm using.

Could anyone recommend a brand of CD-R? Also whats the best burning speed when burning a CUE/BIN image?

    Thanks in advance.

You'll have to experiment - Your particular make and model of DVD may like one type of CD's best - your writer hopefully agrees!
As for speed, I use to stick to "never above half burner max write speed" Not that I can understand why (it's a digital world, after all, right?), but this works best for me...

  3. Like mats says, it all depends on your burner and the media you use.

I can burn VCD's at 52 speed on my 52x24x52 Lite-on using 48 speed intenso media. No problems so far.

    Thanks for replying guys,

I've been using intenso 48x discs and been burning SVCD.

My writer is a BTC, 2410 i think.

Would a SVCD be more sensitive to burning speeds?

My player is a philips DVD723.

I don't see why it should. If overburning to longer play discs lowering the speed is a good idea as the data is burnt on a tighter spiral pitch so there is more chance of errors during burning. What speed are you burning at ?. I know the intenso 48x discs are good because like I say, I burn to them at 52 speed. It may be your burner itself that is causing the problems at higher burn speeds.

    I normally burn @ 4x or 8x.

    Are BTC burning any good?

I am better off investing in a better burner?

  7. I dont know about BTC burners, but you shouldn't be having problems burning at 4x. If you do get a new burner, consider a lite-on. Have you tried your SVCD in any other players to see if you have the same problems, and its not just your DVD player that is having trouble reading the discs.

    Whats the best burning software?

I've been using TMPG for encoding
VCDEasy for chapters then to cue/bin image
    Nero for burning image.

Is their a setting in nero that i might be missing?

  9. I use Nero to author and burn my VCD's with no problems, although some people do have problems with it. If you are authoring with VCDEasy, why not try burning with it as well. Can't hurt to give it a try.

I like nero but am I right in saying that u can only have one track on the menu, whereas vcdeasy can create a number of chapters.

  11. You can have multiple tracks in nero, which can be accessed by a menu. You just drag as many mpeg files across as you want on your VCD. You cant have chapter entry points within a track with nero though.
