  1. does that mean that any files i download that are already mpg format i can just burn as vcd and they will work or do they still have to be encoded for some reason?

  2. vcd's aren't JUST mpg format. they're mpg files encoded to a strict standard (1150kbps, 352 x 240, 224kbps audio, etc)

    if you're lucky, the files you've downloaded will be that standard. if not, you'll need to re-encode them to VCD standard.
