  1. loveo... i hope that someone can help me...

i have successfully used smartripper to rip the dvd to my hard disk...
i have also successfully gone through the steps using dvd2avi...
i then wait ages for TMPGEnc to create the mpeg... when it's finally done i play the mpeg before i burn it... the sound is fine, but the video is grainy and choppy... i used the default settings for TMPGEnc...
am i doing something wrong? does anyone have any suggestions...

if it helps at all, the movie was dancer in the dark...

i would really appreciate it if anyone could help me...

    thanks in advance...

  2. Need a few more details:
    1) did you ever burn VCD (or SVCD) and play them successfully before
    2) did you rip your movie to VCD or SVCD, etc.. ? What are the TMPGEnc settings
The procedure seems correct and should work.

mmm, you used the default settings from this site or from tmpeg ?
tmpeg' settings are really crappy ! Also there is a difference in settings between VCD en SVCD, what are you exactly making ?

  4. Try loading the template for NTSC (or PAL) VCD from the template directory. TMPGEnc will take a long time on an older or slower machine.

    -TMPGEnc encoding times (Personal records)-
VOB/PCM WAV to VCD, 74 minutes of MPEG generate,

    AMD K-6/2 500Mhz : 9-12 hours
    (Old machine)

    AMD Athalon Thunderbird 800Mhz : 3.5 - 4.25 hours
(Yup, new machine! Thank you Lord!)

[Both have the SAME hard drives and 256 megs RAM]
