  1. I just installed a Memorex ReWritable Drive (+R/+RW), however none of the apps recognize it and WinXp shows it only as CD. That is, the CD functions are available for read/write, the DVD function only for read, but no write functions.

Tried using "install new hardware" but it ends up with same driver, which appears as a cd driver.

There is absolutely no info at memorex.com

Has anyone else had similar problems?

Sounds like the "new" Memorex DVD+RW/+R Internal ReWritable Drive. I recently bought this drive, and have found no problems whatsoever with it. I burn programs using the Nero software provided as well as the Sonic MyDVD software (I run Windows XP Home). I hope you are not trying to burn using the windows explorer, because that won't work. Only the provided software will burn to DVD. The Windows Explorer will still burn to CD-R and CD-RW but not the DVD disks.

    Hope this helps!

PS: I installed all the disks that came with the drive.

  5. Yes, so far I can use only Nero. MyDVD, which came with package does not recognize it. I tried RecordMax and others with no positive results. But Nero works great. Also InCD does allow WinExplorer to copy files for packet writing.

Yes, I'm new to InCD. I have a DVD+RW disk and a CD-RW disk formatted as UDF, but am having problems with it. Not on my computer, but on my work computer. I am trying to install a Aptec (sp?) UDF reader onto my work computer to see if it will read the UDF format.

As for MyDVD that comes with the drive, I have been able to record DVD+R (+RW too) and VCD's; but the program takes forever to burn the image. VCDEasy is much faster! As is Nero for the DVD+R. However, the software is great. I am personally going to try to use MyDVD to write an image to disk, and burn it with Nero. Hopefully, this will be faster.

I haven't tried any other software for burning DVD+R/+RW (other then the packaged software), but I have no problems burning CD-RW/R with other software programs.
