  1. All I basically want to do is take the videos from my JVC Digital Video Camera(DV) and put them on the computer and on CD's so the family can see them in a DVD player. I get confused looking at all this high tech lingo that you use.

I started by buying the Videowave Version 4.0 and didn't realize I had to have other things. I installed the program and of course without a capture card got nothing.

Can anyone make this as easy for me as possible? I see that tt sure can get expensive.
    TIA,

Simple - buy and install a firewire card. They're not expensive, maybe $50.
Your software is likely to have a 'Getting Started Guide'.
There's also some tutorials on the Roxio website:
    http://www.roxio.com/en/products/videowave/videowave_tutorials.jhtml#
(although they are for version 5, but the concets would still be the same).

Start by adding the firewire card, play around a bit, then get back on the forum if you have problems/questions.

By the way, because you're capturing from DV to PC, you only need a Firewire card, and obviously a CD burner to output the result - both of which are inexpensive items in today's world.
